for those in their 2nd or above years, how hard is it to score above 70.0 overall at the end of the year? that equates to a pass with merit, right?

you get a merit if you're in the top 20% of the year in first year and second year or a pass with distinction if you get top 20% in 1st year and top 10% in 2nd (as far as im aware) its not about your absolute mark, its about the mark compared to the rest of the year.

depends how hard you work and how clever you are. and how hard the rest of the year works and how clever they are. But i will say dont work too hard in first year. its the time to have most fun before the real hard work starts. its all about finding a happy balance.

Yeah a happy balance sounds good :)
But like top 20% of 300 is like top 60 people- tough odds!

How much harder is year 2 than year 1?

If it's still like what it was when I went through it, 2nd year is a heck of a lot harder.

its not necessarily that its that much harder, its just that there's a hell of a lot more of it!

In that sense - 1st year clinics is that much harder than 2nd year due to the sheer amount of stuff you're supposed to know! (Theory and examinations)

Not sure I quite agree as although there is a lot to get through in 1st year clinics you have a lot more fun learning it so it doesn't seem as bad (at least for me anyway).

Oh I loved it! But was still definitely harder - you can't pass it how you can 2nd year with past papers and learning answers etc
