Congrats to anyone who has made it this far :)

So, has anyone got their interview on Feb 2nd? It would be nice to know somebody before the day arrives (week after next!!).

I'm looking forward to it this year - however the nerves are still present. I was interviewed last year and was so overwhelmed by the experience that I forget nearly everything I was asked. The information session before the interviews was quite informative and the tour of the facilities was a tease to say the least. Would really like to get it this year but I have to stress that the interview is everything.

They allocate weight to the application in terms of degree result (1:1, 2:1 etc), Higher degree, if any, interview performance (under headings such as realisation of work/effort required, commitment to lifelong learning, environmental considerations, dedication to research, personal attributes/ work/life balance etc, & finally GAMSAT performance (which they stress has little bearing on final decision (but could take you out of the running if your tied with someone with a higher score than you!)....this is about as much as I can remember. Overall the day is enjoyable but I was freaked out last year as it was my first application to UCAS (I'm an Irish candidate) and I found it all a bit overwhelming..

If anyone has anything to add I'd be glad to read any comments or advice one might have.

Best of Luck to all :D

I've got an interview on the 2nd too!! Its my first ever application and only interview so far, so I am beyond nervous!!!!!!! Thanks for the weighting info, where did you get that from? Is it just from experience last year? Do you remember how much ethical stuff they asked you?

    See you on the 2nd!!

Excellent Abby, I will be sure to look out for you on the day :)

The interview at Swansea is very transparent in the sense that they will actually give us a breakdown of how they will grade each interview in the presentation that's given before lunch. There's a lot of info in last year's thread I think, I remember lots of posts had accumulated in there! Tbh I don't think I was asked any ethical questions. More along the lines of 'do you how long the route to consultancy is?' and generally 'why do you want to study medicine @ Swansea? Which is actually a tough one to answer!

    Hey guys,

also an interviewee though mine's at the end of the cycle. Happy that they gave me a longer warning though! It's a panel interview no? Do you Grant Stevens remember how many interviewers there were last year per person? :)

Two guys interviewed me last year. It was tough enough. By the looks of it you'll have plenty of practice by then ;)

    Thanks!
Yeah, have had a decent amount of practice last week and a half must say. Was exhausting though so glad there's a break now. Especially since my boss ain't gonna be too happy about a leave for a second time... :D

He won't be happy in August when you tell him your good news! So what's your preference list like? Provided you were offered all four of course!

Well I already had an honest chat with her a month ago when I found out about the interviews and she now knows there's a chance I won't continue after August. On the one hand said she's sure Ill get at least 2 offers (good that someone's optimistic cause I am not! :D) and she's happy for me but on the other hand she would have wanted to keep me and train me to me a full-blown export and project finance specialist (I'm currently a junior member of the team only). Haven't mentioned this 4th interview to her yet though…

Preference-wise, I guess it would have to be London first cause it's the one place in the UK I actually have at least some friends and relatives already. I know I'd make loads more and am happy to but it's nice to have a safety blanket considering I'm moving from another country. Also, my sister wants to apply to study in London after her A-level equivalents in 2 years so would be nice if we were in the same city. However, I think I sometimes get a bit claustrophobic in London cause Im not used to so many people etc so in that sense turns out I loved SGUL and Tooting maybe more than London Bridge? I had to apply based on what I read from the universities' websites and heard from people here on NMM. Now I've been to Newcastle also and it was really nice, reminded me of Helsinki quite a bit. Swansea I've heard is lovely also.

Quite an analysis, guess I don't know what I'd do myself either. IF (and that's a big IF) I get multiple offers IF any.

4 offers would be quite an achievement to say the least...even 4 interviews is very impressive! Logistically London probably make most sense but at the end of the day fate will decide which school you end up in. I would personally pick Swansea as it's the course in particular that I'd prefer. That and it's very similar to home in terms of settling in. Also, having viewed the facilities there last year sealed the deal for me really.

What's everyone doing to prepare for interviews?!

I've got mine on the 2nd too! Second Swansea interview as well. I must say well remembered on the scoring criteria, all I remember is it being an "informal discussion" (yeah, right) with the questions being drawn from your personal statement and your previous responses. I'm feeling nervous but excited, and hoping that the weather is going to be as nice as it was on my last one, don't fancy turning up looking like a drowned rat. Nice also to know that if I'm too early I can pop into the building next door for coffeeeee :)

Congratulations everyone! Does anyone know of anyone who has ever got an offer with a rubbish GAMSAT score? I just feel like I have no chance. :( I'll give it my damn best shot though!

May I ask what your gamsat score is? I've been reassured that it's not extremely important once you shine in the interview but I'm not convinced!

Yeah, I'm very grateful about the interviews, especially after 4 blunt rejections last year! Let's see what happens and where I end up, if anywhere! :)

Im currently taking a break from prep but before that I used to prep with the ISC book and mock interviews with my friends. Also general reading up on health news, and especially for me it was tough to be up-to-date on NHS matters since I had to start from scratch.

Def! Would have been in deep you know what at one of my interviews without that particular info! :D But must say it also got me a bit frustrated and anxious at times cause it's so comprehensive and the effective answers are so effective damn it! No pressure! :D But it was the same in their UKCAT book for the maths part, guess they like us to be overprepared, which can't be too bad.

Oof delayed reply. Well, I got >60 in the first two sections and... um... <50 in the last one :/ Not good at all. But I've seen someone who got a place with a score of 59 last year, so that's actually given me some hope.

    How's everyone's preparation going? I'm so nervous!

I have a GAMSAT score that's lower than 59 I can assure you!!last year I even made it onto the waiting list in march while others were rejected outright with higher scores. It's all down to interview performance. I have to admit I am nervous about the interview (which is on Tuesday!!!) but I'm just gonna try and relax and enjoy the day a bit more than last year. The tour of the facilities and the short presentation outlining course structure etc is a big tease I have to admit!

Don't worry dear! I only 54 on the gamsat so it can't mean that much. I'm quite impressed by Swansea that they actually take the time to read our statements and base it on other credentials than just entrance exams. Hurray for Wales! (Yes revision is making me go insane XD)
In terms of prep i've done a little but having final year exams 10/15/21/25 isn't making my life easier to say the least! How about yours?
