    here's a quote from http://interactive.snm.org/index.cfm?PageID=924&RPID=10

"Nuclear medicine specialists use safe, painless, and cost-effective techniques to image the body and treat disease. Nuclear medicine imaging is unique, because it provides doctors with information about both structure and function."

now, does anyone have any personal experience with nuclear medicine? Seems like it would be a tame work load with decent pay... the interesting bit is that you can perform non invasive procedures with new technology..

a friend doing his internship in the states was recently accepted into a residency with only 150 spots nation wide, i think it was the same idea of doing non invasive procedures with radiation. is it really that exclusive still?

    first med in dublin

Can't really tell you what its like working there, but I have had a variety of nuclear tests and treatments before. I find it quite amazing the variety of things they are able to do with nuclear medicine these days.

I remember a little bit of nuclear medicine on a placement. you can find out fully on wiki. Apparently radioactive matarials are used tread disease, or palliative pain release. But It wasn't a medical doctor who did the testing, it was a nuclear physisist.
